This morning, as a member of the DuPage County Illinois, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Advisory Committee, I was fortunate to attend its fourth meeting of 2023. The meeting was held at DuPage AME Church, 4300 Yackley Avenue, Lisle, Illinois, where the Pastor is Reverend Conitras Houston Dickens.
The committee membership now totals 160 individuals and community activists, working together committedly, and dedicated to the continuation of the annual celebration commemorating Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
Dr. King's 2024 birthday breakfast celebration will take place at the Drury Lane Theatre in Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois, 60181 on January 15, 2024. We thank Dr. William Carroll, President Emeritus of Benedictine University Lisle, Illinois, for his untiring effort to bring Dr. King’s Birthday Celebration to reality.
We will be forever grateful to Mr. Daniel L. Goodwin, Chairman and CEO of The Inland Real Estate Group for his unwavering support in establishing Dr. Carroll’s vision of the DuPage County-Wide Breakfast, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Additionally, I am pleased to announce that the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Unity Fund of the DuPage Foundation has been created by The Inland Real Estate Group. From now and into perpetuity the fund will be able to receive all the net profits from the annual DuPage County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Breakfast.
The committee would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Reverend Dr. Jessie L. Jackson Jr., Chairman of the Rainbow Push Organization in announcing his well-deserved retirement.
In closing, I’d like to invite everyone to join us at the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday Breakfast Celebration, on January 15, 2024, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois 60181, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. central time zone. The breakfast cost per ticket will be $75.00 and there will be sponsorship opportunities.
