Supporters stand proudly beside the historical marker for Prentiss Institute, a significant educational establishment founded in 1907 for African Americans. The lush greenery and the historical plaque provide a backdrop that highlights the legacy and cultural heritage celebrated by all.

On April 26, 2025, Prentiss Normal and Industrial Institute (PNII) celebrated the unveiling of a state historical marker on its campus in Prentiss, Mississippi. The historical marker was sponsored by author and Freedom Rider, Thomas Armstrong (pictured with hat on). Other key Foot Soldier Journey partners included Ms. Natalie Bell, Dr. Travis Armstrong, Mr. Gary Russell Bass, Jefferson Davis County Economic Development District Office, Mr. James Armstrong, Vice President of the Prentiss Institute Executive Board, Dr. Art Cribbs, and The Prentiss Institute Partnership Group, The Prentiss Institute Alumni Group, and The Historical Marker Committee.
