DuPage MLK Advisory Committee Update - January 2024

On Monday, January 15, 2024, the DuPage County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Advisory Committee hosted the “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I Have a Dream Breakfast”. There were over 1,200 people at the sold-out event which was held at the Drury Lane Theater in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Mike Sitrick, CEO of the DuPage Foundation announced the establishment of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Fund, seeded by The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies. Mr. Sitrick also disclosed that this year’s event raised a net amount of $100,000.

All of the proceeds from this event have gone to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Fund of DuPage Foundation which focuses on supporting DuPage 501© (3) public charities that prioritize serving Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. For grant guidelines and application information visit dupagefoundation.org.

Renowned gospel singer the Rev. Darius Brooks and choirs from the DuPage AME Church in Lisle and St. John AME Church in Aurora also performed.

I am honored and blessed to have been a member of the Advisory Committee, working alongside Regina Brant, Committee Co-chair, and the other 200 committee members.

To the many, many supporters and friends of Foot Soldiers Journey, "Thank you so very much for your continued support".
